| Lets see where everybody likes to go to for their comic fix. Post up the name and location of your favorite shops and if they have a webpage, post the link to it so we can all see. | |

| I get my books at Strange Adventures in Fredericton New Brunswick, Canada. http://www.strangeadventures.com/In my area I don't ahve alot of options there's one other "shop" in Saint John, but they're more of a regular bookstore with a comics section. Most people with only one choice go to their shop because they have to not because they want to. Not in my case SA is awesome. it's the first comics shop I've ever walked into where I didn't feel like an instant outsider. I've only been in a small number of times so far and don't know the clerks by name yet. but it won't take long I'm sure. The store is nicely lit and doesn't have that "cave" feeling alot of shops are known for. They're always had lots of whatever I'm looking for, and maintain a good selection of back issues. Which is bad for me because every time I go in I end up picking up another New 52 title I didn't read before. and I can grab all the back issues I missed . It's such a happy place. I want to live there. | |

| I just wanted to chime in my 2 cents worth on this subject.
Like most people these days. I do an awful lot of shopping online. This has contributed to the closing of lots of different kinds of businesses all over the world. The local comic shop isn't immune to this trend.
Please bear with me as I tell a bit of a story to get to my point.
I got back into the comics game not long ago. And when I first got back in I read a bunch of my old childhood books first. Then it came time to buy some new stuff. I picked upa bunch of older back issues on Ebay to feed my Incredible Hulk obsession. Then came the New 52 from DC. I picked up my first ones at the grocery store near home. For the first little while they got them in a little behinde the release schedule but I was ok with that. Then they seemed to stop getting anything new. So I turned to ebay and online stores. I was slow to pick up new titles to try as I was stuck in my old habit of only reading a few different books. Anyway as my pull list increased in size, I decided to go to Fredericton and check out Strange Adventures Comic Shop. i was instantly smitten with the store.
After a couple trips to pick stuff up I got to looking at the cost of going to the store VS online shopping. Once I allowed for the cost of shipping and (living in Canada and ordering from the US) the cost of currency exchange rate, even with the 10% discount offered by some online dealers. It was actually cheaper to go to the store and pick up my books. Yes I have to drive an hour-and-a-half to get there, but what else am I going to do ona saturday? Also buying all my books local keeps the store open and gives the staff jobs. It's a win-win for everyone involved.
Basically I'm saying "Support your Local Comics Shop". Which may sound corny. But if you want them to stay open so you can go in and drool over the latest DC Universe Presents or Warlord Of Mars. You have to spend some money to keep em there.

| Paul, I couldn't agree more. The local comic shop is the backbone of the comics community. It's the comic shop that keeps collectors connected, engaged, and involved in the medium of comics. If you find a good one, hold on to it tight, and help it out as much as you can. I try to order everything I possibly can from my LCS, from comics, to toys, to statues, and everything else. I go there first, to give them an opportunity for a sale. And only as a last resort to I go online or elsewhere.
In this day and age, I think a lot of people don't realize that a LCS is the only place to get involved in comics. And if it weren't for them, there wouldn't be comics. No comics, no movies. No comics, no heroes. So we all owe a lot to our local comic shop.

| This is my local one in Banbury - http://www.comicconnections.co.uk looks like they don't update there website much but in person its not a bad little shop. One of the other ones I have used is this one, it is about 1/2 hour drive from me http://www.closeencounters.co.ukOther than that the last local one is - http://forbiddenplanet.com/ in Coventry its OK for new comics as and related merchandise but they don't sell any back issues If I had to drive an hour like some of you lot I'm down into London and its full of cool comic shops there that I shall list at a later date, and an hour north I,m in Birmingham where there are some cool comic shops. I think I might use this thread and do a small write up on all the comic shops I normally use, and use it as an excuse to visit some I don't normally go to | |

| My local comic shop is Cab Comics here in Flagstaff, Arizona. They have only been open for maybe a year and a half, but in that short time, have quickly become sort of a cultural hub here. Although I don't play, there are often large gatherings for tournaments for Magic: The Gathering, and other card games. They also have really cool events like family board game nights every Tuesday, and a totally awesome Graphic Novel Book Club the first Monday of every month. The owner, Cory, is always super helpful, and more than willing to help you track down obscure stuff for your collection. I really like their website, too, because you can register, and manage your entire pull list online. You can even purchase digital comic downloads straight from their site. Here's their site. Cab Comics HomepageI also contribute to a weekly podcast where a few of us from the store discuss the weeks issues (spoiler alert) and other topics relating to the comic world. Here's this weeks podcast as an example. It's on the Cab Comics blog at the link below. You can listen, and comment about what you think, ideas, or whether or not you agree or disagree with some our incoherent ramblings! Cab Comics BlogYou can also follow them on Google +, Facebook, and Twitter. Cab Comics Google+Cab Comics Facebook PageCab Comics TwitterCory and the staff are very knowledgeable about comics as well. I highly recommend following them on the above links, and feel free to ask them a question, or ask for help tracking down anything you might be looking for! | |

| The only thing I'm buying online these days is older back issues. And even in that deepartment Starnage Adventures has a pretty good selection. I just wish I lived closer to the shop. But my wallet is glad that it's not . | |

| Half of my weekly pull list is all done online but it is manged and run by a real life comic shop, not one of these that ship form a warehouse/office. the other half is from my local comic shop. Why do I do that you may be asking, Its quite simple that way I can support two comic shops not just one. The same goes for my back issues a lot are done online via ebay and such places, but yes I still look in the comic shops and at comic cons I still love going into a comic shop because sometimes you go in and you just see a book or something you would not normally look at and just think hell that looks good, you ask the staff/ other people in the shop " is it any good?" and they say "yeah that's cool" and before you know it, it's your new fave comic. | |

| My local shop I went to today is Kingdom Comics. Its not a huge place compared to what Lions and Unicorns was, but they have a great selection of newer and older issues. The guy behind the counter was very friendly. He was going to introduce me to his boss, but he just left to go to the bank. But the atmosphere there was great. In the one back corner they had some cartoon playing, couldnt be distracted from the comics to see what it was. Next time I go back, Ill actually see whats playing. | |

| Here's the only local shop I know of. I'll post the link once I can. It's been awhile since I've been in there, but they do appear to have a good selection of new and used comics. | |

| Here's my other favorite shop to go to in Bangor, Maine. Top Shelf Comics. http://tcomics.com/They are alot like my own "home shop" in Fredericton. Very friendly, helpful staff that doesn't make you feel like an outsider when you walk in there. What i really love is they have a pretty extensive selection of back issues. It's almost like you can ask for anything and they have it. It's worth the 2 hour drive to go down there every couple months. | |

| Went to another local shop I found using comic shop locater. This one is called Excelsiors and it might not be a big shop, per say, but they did have a nice selection of Indy stuff I was hunting for. They had Crossed, Grimm Fairy Tales, Lone Ranger, and several others that was on my list. Very friendly guy who works there who gave me the tip on Ennis' other title to check out called Stitched. | |
