Anyone else like the new SHAZAM??

Has anyone else here read the new Shazam backup story in Justice League #7 yet? There was alot of controversy and belly aching over this new version of Captain Marvel. One of the sore points being his name being officially changed to Shazam. I myself really liked the short story. I think they are taking a new look and a creative one at the character. I'm hopng the story stays strong enough and DC will give Shazam his own title. Here's hoping.

I'm still torn on it. I really liked it when I first read it, but then the complaints from other folks started to make sense to me.

What I do like is:
It's Shazam.
I think it's a cool format to have it as a mini-story at the back of each Justice League. It's like a bonus you get for buying the JL book.
I honestly don't know a lot about Captain Marvel/Shazam, so maybe it's easier to like for me than hard core Shazam guys.

What I don't like:
The orphan kid that becomes Shazam. ( I forget his name now.) He seemed like kind of a brat.
The way Shazam came out seemed kind of sudden. Like it was the story of the orphan and then all of there was a full page Shazam. But maybe they'll explain more in the next issue.

Overall. I liked Shazam in Kingdom Come a lot, so I am going to keep going with this.

Well I read the second installment of SHAZAM in JL #8 last night. I'm still liking it so far.

Billy is a brat in this version. But i think we'regoing to see that it's all a fasade for a deeper soul who is very good at heart. You already see evidence of that when he feels bad for making the other little girl cry. I hope it goes over well enough that we see a new Shazam series. Fingers crossed.

Through issue 11 of Justice League, which is still bad ass, but the Shazam story is sooooooooo slow. It's time for Shazam to take a shit or get off the pot already. I don't care about orphans. I wanna see that golden lightning bolt.

I like the build-up. I think we should see SHAZAM soon. i still think that they should have him be in his own universe instead of the regular DCU.

I honetly don't know about the original Shazam origin story. Is this new one similar?

Looks like we're going to see Billy become Shazam! in the next issue.

I'm not overly familiar with the origin of Shazam! either. But the traincar thing must be a constant in it. Because in the newer shrot film Superman/SHAZAM!: The Return Of Black Adam, Billy is on a traincar when he gets taken to the Wizards lair. I'll have to look into the origin more I guess.

I still say I wish they'd not have SHAZAM! in the regular DCU, and have him in his own universe. Not Earth-2 either. His own world with his own villains and cast of characters. I'm curious to see how they have him fit into the DCU. I just think he's too similar to Superman in alot of ways.
