| Forgive me comic book gods for I have sinned, this is my first confession........I 'm not sure where to start this confession but I have DOWNLOADED a virtual Marvel comic book on to my new ipad. Now that I have done this I can see why people are saying this is the future, I myself enjoyed it because when I get a comic book I flick through the pages to look at the art 1st and sometimes it spoils the story and I have not found away of doing that yet, also when I have downloaded I can read it on my ipad, iphone or even the mac's we use at work, sometimes I found it hard to know which way to slide the screen to get the next panel to come up but I think that was user error. If I was just a reader of comics and not a collector then I feel now that this would be the way forward, but I'm not, for all its benefits nothing can beet the feel of buying a real life comic book, the touch even the smell, and that's not to mention the money (resale) side of our comic collections, I did think that I might just get one or two titles to read like this still not made my mind up yet. I end this with the hope that you can find it in your hearts to forgive me. | |

| I think it is the wayne of the future. It's convenient to have a whole run on your iPad to take with you on trips. The only ones I've downloaded were a couple of free ones from the DC site that were kind of like quick "histories" of certain characters. I only had it on my old phone, though, and I haven't done any on the iPad or iPhone yet.
The only drawback I think is that there isn't really a good way to turn comics you already have into a digital book like that. Sure you could scan page by page, but that's a lot of work.
But now Marvel and DC are selling new comics with download codes included, so that when you buy the book at the comic shop, you can also download a digital copy when you get home. I think that will get lots of folks into it.
It's a natural profession, though, being that most comics nowadays are painted digitally, or at the very least, colored digitally. So it makes sense to just combine the digital files from the artists into a digital book as well.
But I'm also a purist. And I don't think I will ever buy a digital copy without owning a paper copy as well.

| Same here Tad. The only way I would buy a digital copy is if there was something special about it, like artist sketches or a video of how the comics actually are done to make it worth the time and cash to buy one. Even an inter-active comic would be worth buying, but Ill stick with the way I had them when I was growing up, pages stapled together. And Mike. I see a 2 week ban in your future, you sinner. | |

Not necessarily. For instance, the local shop here also has a digital storefront, where they make a percentage of digital sales if you go through them to buy them. It's all through Comixology, but the shop still gets a cut. | |

| I have made up my mind and I am going to stick with paper and ink comics, and only download the free ones from some of the codes that marvel are giving out. | |
