Figured I'd start a section about recently watched DVDs and Blu-Rays you've seen or are about to see.

Just sitting down to watch Dr. Cyclops, from 1940. Dr. Cyclops is noteworthy for having been directed by Ernest B. Schoedsack of King Kong fame. The film is also the first U.S. science fiction film made in Technicolor. it's gonna be a good one.

That sounds super rad! Where did you find it? I'm a bad noob when it comes to older classics, so seeing threads like this is awesome for me!

Tad- Here's the set I got Dr. Cyclops in. http://www.amazon.com/Classic-Sci-Fi-Ultimate-Collection-Vols/dp/B0013XZ6SY/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1334440624&sr=1-1

Old Sci-Fi and horror movies are a passion of mine. I can recommend dozens if you want to see some good ones. These surpass my interest even in bootlegs!! I'll watch just about anything from the first days of cinema to present day with a real focus on the 1950s. A movie has to be really bad for me to shut it off without finishing it.

If you've never seen it I highly recommend The Thing From Another World from 1951. It's my all time favorite movie. Just a bit ahead of King Kong from 1933.

Other good ones are:

Target Earth (1954)

War Of The Worlds (1953)

It! The Terror From Beyond Space (1958) This film is basically what Alien was based off of. Trapped on a ship with an evil killer alien.

Gojira (1954) This is the first Japanese release of Godzilla. Godzilla King Of The Monsters was released in 1956 in North America with additional footage of Raymond Burr. I suggest watching both films back-to-back. The Japanese version watchs much darker than the American counterpart.

The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms (1953) This is the film that inspired Toho studios to make Gojira.

The Crawling Eye (1958) Also known as "The Trollenberg Terror".

I could go on but that will get you started.

If you go for the blue ray one, make sure its the extended one with the extra 25mins that they found and it comes with a 56 page booklet telling you all about the making of the film and stuff.

Thanks for the heads up Mike. I think the Blu-Ray I'm wanting to get is the one you mentioned. I'll have to double check.
