Going for 27 years then to close, does make me wonder how many comic shops are we going to loose? How much of this is down to digital downloads of comics and online comic shopping? I know I am guilty of buying comics online, but I also have a pull list at my LCS, and I always tour around all the other comic chops in my area spending a little bit of cash in each.

It's sad to see when a shop closes down, especially a long established one. I've seen the same thing happen to music and book shops that have been around for ages. Digital is partly to blame imo along with other factors like perhaps increasingly expensive highstreet overheads - rates, insurance, paying the staff etc + recession. Not good for the small shops.

I do agree that digital and online shops, along with Ebay is killing off the brick and mortar stores these days. With gas prices and the economy the way it is, buying online is alot cheaper. But now that I know I can drive for 45 min to get to a local shop, Ill only pick up stuff online when my shop doesnt have it or I can buy a huge lot cheaper. But Ill still prefer buying at my shop to help keep them running longer.

That's why I pound the drum of buying as much of your stuff as you can at your favorite LCS.

Today I have set up my pull list at my LCS and will now only buy comics I cant find else where online, as for buying digital comics I cant see that happening any time soon, I like to have something to file after reading.

I dont do digital comics. Like you said Mike, I rather hold the actual book in my hands to feel it. Strange thought I know, but there was no such thing as digital comics when I was first reading them.
